A torch rally or prayer walk organised in the capital city of Chhattisgarh marked the beginning of National Prayer Festival in Raipur on Monday.
Moderator of the Church of North India The Most B K Nayak led the march. He along with six bishops and prayer warriors from across the country circumambulated the premises of St Paul’s Cathedral and prayed. Diocese Bishop S K Nanda and Secretary Nitin Lawrence and other officials also participated.
Spokesperson John Rajesh Paul said that the festival will continue till October 19 at St Paul’s Cathedral. On Tuesday, the Prayer Festival Ceremony will be held from 10 am to 12 noon at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Moderator Nayak will start the event.
In the beginning, Christian hymns will be sung by the choir. It also includes Chhattisgarhi bhajans. After the initial prayer, the General Convenor will give a welcome speech. The Scripture readings will be followed by a message from the moderator followed by mass prayer. There will be Praise and Worship and Bible reading after 12 noon.
Deputy Moderator and Bishop of Nagpur Diocese Paul Dhupare will deliver the sermon. After half an hour of mass prayer, there will be prayers on world peace and various issues.
In the second session from 2 to 4 pm, after Bible reading and praise singing, Synod’s Program Director Reverend Dr D J Ajith Kumar will deliver the message. The prayer warriors will pray on various topics in tents set up in the St. Paul’s Cathedral complex. In the session from 5 to 7 pm, there will be a sermon by Bishop Manoj Charan of Bhopal Diocese.
Convener Pastor Pranay Toppo, Pastor Sunil Kumar Treasurer Ajay John, Vo Nagaraju Vice President of Transport Committee Pastor Sushma Kumar, Executive Member of Diocese, Ruchi Dharmaraj, Deepak Gideon, Pramod Masih Treasurer, Jaideep Robinson Cathedral Pastor Committee, Sunday School, Mahila Sabha, Youth Sabha are working together to make this event a success.
