Leading automobile manufacturer and India’s biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki on Friday announced that the company is increasing the price for select models owing to increase in various input costs.
“This is to inform you that the Company is increasing the price for select models owing to increase in various input costs,” Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) said in a regulatory filing. The weighted average price increase in Ex Showroom Prices (Delhi) across models is 1.6 per cent, it added.
Automakers in India had been increasing the prices this year, citing rise in various input costs. In January, Maruti Suzuki had cited a rise in input costs and had increased prices for some car models.
Maruti Suzuki India recently announced that its total production in March 2021 increased significantly to 1,72,433 units over the same month last year. The company had produced a total of 92,540 units in the year-ago period, MSIL said.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki sells Alto and S-Presso in the mini-car segment, as well as WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire in the compact car segment. In compact utility vehicles segment, the company offers Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara, Brezza and XL6, while producing Jimny for overseas markets. It has one offering each in mid-size sedan and van segments – Ciaz and Eeco, respectively.
