MCL marks 31st Foundation Day

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), an entity of Coal India Limited (CIL), celebrated its 31st Foundation Day on Sunday at the company headquarters in Sambalpur. 

The celebrations started early morning with the “Run for Excellence” wherein, former CMDs, present Board Members, President & Vice-Presidents, Jagruti Mahila Mandal, employees and their families participated with a lot of enthusiasm and vigor.  Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik, a renowned mythologist and author delivered a talk on “PSUs: Quest for Excellence”.  Former CMDs of the company, who had led MCL in past, were honored on the occasion. 

Former CMDs namely S N Sharma, S R Upadhyay, B N Shukla, A K Jha and P K Sinha graced the occasion and shared their experiences. They congratulated team MCL for their stupendous performance during the financial year 2021-22.

CMD, MCL O P Singh thanked all the Stakeholders including employees, trade union leaders, state government, people’s representatives, villagers, consumers and others for their help and cooperation in creating a new milestone of producing 168 million tonnes (MT) of coal with 14 per cent growth, despatching 176 million tonnes of coal with 19 per cent growth and achieving 21 per cent growth in Over-burden removal. 

Director (Finance) K R Vasudevan, Director (Personnel) Keshav Rao, and Chief Vigilance Officer P K Patel were present at the ceremony. 

In the evening, a special programme was organized for the employees and their family members where S K Pal, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) delivered his welcome address. 

Former CMDs were felicitated by the CMD, Directors and Corporate JCC members.  The special highlight of the evening was the musical programme presented by the famous Bollywood singer Krishna Beuraa.
