MCL’s feat: Overtakes FY 21 output 35 days ahead of current fiscal’s end

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), the Odisha based coal producing subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), as of 24 February breezed past its highest ever production that it recorded in FY’21, 35 days ahead of FY’22 end.

In ramping up its production to 148.2 MTs as of 24 February, MCL exccelled its entire FY’21 output of 148 MTs.

As of the referred date, MCL has surpassed its progressive target of 144.5 MTs by 3.7 MTs with the achievement being 102.6 per cent. Averaging a little over 5 Lakh tonnes per day, MCL is on track to outstrip its annual production target of 163 MTs for FY ’22.

Another subsidiary of CIL, South Eastern Coalfields Limited as of 23 February despatched 139 MTs of coal eclipsing the total despatch of 138.8 MTs of FY ’21 with 36 days remaining for FY’22 to end.

Earlier, till 16 February of the ongoing fiscal, CIL has already supplied 575 MTs of coal, bettering its annual despatch of 574.5 MTs of FY ’21 43 days ahead of the current fiscal’s closure.

Currently, averaging 2.3 MTs of output per day and 2.1 MTs in off-take CIL is comfortably poised to cruise over the previous highs in production and despatch and set a new record in FY ’22.
