Chhattisgarh government had revised its industrial policy to boost the production of medical equipment in wake of COVID-19.
The state cabinet headed by Bhupesh Baghel recently gave its nod to include the COVID-19 related medical equipment manufacturing in the top priority list. The government would make the necessary amendment in its industrial policy (2019-24).
Under the clause, the party interested to venture into medical equipment making would get top preference. The medical devices include those required by the state and that could be manufactured by the available resources in the state.
The amendment in the policy would promote the manufacturing of new cylinders, oxygen concentrators, cryogenic gas tankers, face masks, non-rebreather masks, oxygen flow meters, nasal cannula, surgical gloves, PPE kits, over-all body protectors and equipment required for COVID-19 and other contagious diseases tests.
Besides, pharmaceuticals, drugs, equipment for vaccine production, RT PCR tests, antigen regen had also been included in the list.
A state government spokesperson said the move would facilitate the production of required equipment and boost investment in the pharmaceutical-medical sector in Chhattisgarh.
