Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Madhya Pradesh arm of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL), got its first Female Mining Engineer.
Hailing from Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai town, Pramila has become the first woman mining engineer to work in opencast mines at NCL. She has been posted at one of the Mega Projects of NCL Jayant, Singrauli.
She completed her engineering in Mining Discipline from NIT, Raipur and joined the NCL on June 26, 2023.
Pramila said mining had been a challenging field but learning new things inspired her to work in the field every day as she considered challenges as opportunities. She stated that working in Coal India Limited, the biggest Coal Producer Company in the world gives her immense pride as she is directly contributing to the energy security of the Nation.
Sharing her experience in NCL, Pramila said that she was completely satisfied with the amenities provided by the management and the supportive attitude of her seniors and the harmonious workplace environment of the company motivates her to perform best.
She expresses her gratitude towards her family and professors for the success and said it was their continuous guidance that inspired her to follow her passion.
Giving her message to all the females who are aspiring to enhance their careers in the mining industry, she said that mining had been an ever-growing field to pursue their dreams and recent women friendly regulatory changes introduced by the Government of India in the mining sector was making it an attractive employment opportunity.
As more and more women will be in the mining sector, it will lead to contest gender stereotypes in the industry, she added.
