The Jammu and Kashmir police have recovered the army jawan who went missing from his native Kulgam district on Saturday evening.
The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir informed in a Twitter post that the jawan has been rescued. However, further details were awaited as to how the jawan was rescued.
Javaid Ahmad Wani, son of Muhammad Ayoub Wani went missing on Saturday evening. He was a resident of Achathal area of Kulgam district and was on leave.
According to the family members, he requested his mother to prepare some dishes for him to take back to his base in Ladakh. Around 8 pm, he informed the family over the phone that he would return home within five or 10 minutes.
The jawan, who was in his car, did not return. Soon after getting information, the police launched a massive manhunt. The Jammu and Kashmir Police questioned a dozen persons and examined the call details of the army jawan. His mother’s video message had appealed one and all to allow her son go back to his home.
Finally, the police on Thursday evening claimed that the jawan had been rescued. The Kashmir Zone police said in a tweet that the jawan had been taken for a medical test and would be interrogated jointly to collect further details.
