The Chhattisgarh government on Monday launched a monthly season ticket scheme for the labourers commuting daily by rail or bus for work.
On the occasion of Mazdoor Diwas (Labour Day), Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the Mukhyamantri Nirman mazdoor monthly season ticket card scheme for the registered construction workers who travel daily from their home to other places by rail or bus for construction work. They will be provided a Monthly Ticket Card (MST) for traveling up to 50 km as per the rates fixed by the Railway Board and Transport Department and Municipal Corporation.
“The entire expenditure will be borne by the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board,” the state government spokesperson said.
Besides, the Mukhyamantri Nirman Shramik Mrityu Aur Diyang Sahayata Yojana was also launched on the occasion. The compensation on the accidental death of registered construction workers at the workplace has been increased from Rs 1.00 lakh to Rs 5.00 lakh while the aid for the permanent disability has been scaled from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2.50 lakh. An assistance of Rs 1.00 lakh will be provided in case of death due to accident of unregistered labor at the workplace.
The state government also launched the Mukhyamantri Nirman Shramik Awas Sahayata Yojana that will enable workers to get an aid of Rs 50,000 for purchasing or constructing houses. The name of the Accidental Medical Assistance Scheme has been changed to “Chief Minister’s Construction Workers Longevity Assistance Scheme”, a grant of Rs 20,000 would be given to the registered workers besides other schemes for heart surgery, kidney transplant, liver transplant, brain surgery and other serious diseases like spine surgery, leg knee surgery, cancer treatment and paralysis.
