While a majority of Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra waxing eloquent in welcoming the bhoomi pujan of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, its prominent leader in Madhya Pradesh plays spoilsport.

The Congress party is in defensive mode after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the bhoomi pujan for a marvellous and magnificent temple.

Fearing votes of majority titling towards the BJP, Congress went in a damage control exercise; lit candle and performed events besides claiming credit for Late Rajiv Gandhi in opening the Rama temple.

But its senior leader in Madhya Pradesh is spoiling the game for the party by “taunting” at the pujan. Jittu Patwari, a senior Congress leader and former minister, Saturday twitted a distorted photograph of Prime Minister Modi. The morphed picture showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an earthen bowl in his hand.

Ironically, Patwari had publicly greeted people for the bhoomi pujan. Just four days later, his mockery on the pujan had put the party in a fix.

The Congress leaders however refused to comment, BJP spokesperson said Patwari’s comment spilled party’s double standard on Rama temple issue. “The act of Patwari has exposed Congress stand on the issue when its senior leaders are trying to take political mileage,” the spokesperson said.

A complaint had been lodged by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the Indore police in this connection. The police said a case would be registered after investigation the matter.

This is second such controversial post of Congress leader against the prime minister.
