Narayanpur police in Chhattisgarh nabbed three Maoists; two of them were the masterminds of the deadly Bukintur blast in which five jawans were martyred in March last year.

On the direction of Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, a party of security forces today morning launched an area domination and search operation in the Bache, Hamrah, Hitulvad, Kawanar villages. The party, comprising the jawans of District Force, Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and DRG, was led by Inspectors Malikram Kenwat and Naresh Salam.

While the DRG jawans were moving from Becha to Hitulvad, they spotted the movement of some persons in the Hitulvad forest. Soon after seeing the security personnel, they tried to flee from the spot. The DRG jawans intercepted and nabbed them.

Besides five jawans, 13 soldiers of the DRG were also injured in the incident. The two accused confessed that they had planted more mines on the spot but it did not blast. The next day, they went to the spot and took it out. The bombs were hidden in the Hitulvad forest. Since then, they were absconding and were top in the wanted list of Narayanpur police.

Both the accused were taken to the spot and on their tip off, police recovered a cooker IED bomb weighing about 05 kg, a detonator, red black color electric wire measuring some 5 meters.  They were produced before the Special Judge of the NIA Court in Kondagaon.
