The National Prayer Festival currently underway at St Paul’s Cathedral in the Chhattisgarh capital covered World and national issues on the second day on Wednesday.
The issues include global warming, stopping Israel-Hamas-Palestine war, peace in Manipur. Besides, prayers were offered for the well-being of President of India, Vice President, Prime Minister, Home and Foreign Minister furthermore Union Ministers, Governor, Lieutenant Governors, Chief Minister and members of his cabinet, Chief Secretaries and bureaucrats.
Along with this, Mass and Circle Prayers were also offered for the peaceful and fair conduct of the future Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Moderator of the Church of North India The Most B K Nayak, Bishop S K Nanda of Chhattisgarh Diocese along with Bishop Manoj Charan of Bhopal Diocese initiated the prayer. Pastor Samuel John Shekhar of Delhi Diocese highlighted the role of prayer.
The Bible reading was done by Jennifer Walker of CNI Sind Delhi Office. Bishop Paul Swaroop of Delhi delivered a sermon on the Lord’s Prayer taught by Lord Jesus Christ to his disciples in the Bible. He gave spiritual preparation information on how to pray.
Diocese spokesperson John Rajesh Paul said that on the occasion the choir sang Hindi and Chhattisgarhi bhajans.
The representatives of Marathwada Diocese sang praises of the Lord in Marathi and the delegates of Cuttack Diocese sang praises of the Lord in Odia language. In the second session, Aman Prasad, priest of Agra Diocese, started the session. Pastor Rajesh Makwar of Rajasthan Diocese read the Bible. Bishop of Pune Andrew Rathore delivered the sermon.
Salvester Jacob of Rajasthan Diocese inaugurated the third session while Pastor Manoj Kumar V. Gohil of Gujarat Diocese gave information about prayer and Pastor Suresh Christian read the Bible. The sermon was given by Bishop Surendra Kumar Nanda. Diocese Secretary Nitin Lawrence, President Synod Youth Fellowship Samson Ram Mickey Amritsar along with executive members, pastors, deacons, servants, pastor committees, Sunday School, Youth Assembly, Choir officials also participated.
Prayed by kneeling in the tents – Prayer warriors knelt down and prayed in tents set up on the St. Paul’s Cathedral campus. These tents have also been named – Bethel, Hebron, Gilgal, Mizpah, Ebenezer, Gethsemane, Zion, Olive, Tabor, Esther, Nehemiah, Daniel, Hannah, Bethany, Peace and Light.
Similarly, continuous prayers are being offered in the Junior Church also. These topics are also included in the prayer – Development of states and union territories, cessation of atrocities on women, medical colleges, universities, vice-chancellors, principals, students, technical and non-technical staff, police department officers and employees, collectors, MPs, MLAs, mayors, councilors, panchayats, village councils, Panchayats and their public representatives etc.
