A day after taking over as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Bhola Singh today visited Dudhichua Project on a drive to expedite the output.
The CMD emphasised for concerted efforts to meet the annual targets. He also went to mine area and had a field assessment of the situation. Later, Singh held a meeting with General Managers and Head of the Departments of the project.
NCL, the third largest coal producing entity of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL), has produced 10.8 Million Tonne (MT) of coal in December, about 8 per cent rise compared to previous year’s corresponding month. In the financial year 2020-21, NCL’s output surged by 6.5 per cent to 115 MT.
Dudhichua Opencast Coal Mine, one of the largest coal mines of NCL with a sanctioned capacity of 20 MT achieved the annual coal production target for the year 2020-21 (19 million tonnes) 17 days ahead of schedule.
Started in 1982, production in Dudhichua Coal mine commenced from 1987.
Being a Basket linkage mine, Dudhichua Mine has been entrusted with a greater responsibility in NCL for meeting any shortfall of Coal Production of other mines of NCL linked to the pit head power stations of NTPC and UPRVUNL in Singrauli Coalfields as well as distant power stations of Western & Northern India.
