NCL nets phenomenal performance in coal production, dispatch and OB removal

Beaten the odds by producing 131.17 Million Tonnes, dispatching 133.51 Million Tonnes

In the fiscal year 2022-23, Coal India’s flagship arm Northern Coalfields Limited has performed stupendously in Coal Production, Dispatch, and Overburden Removal parameters.

The  Miniratna produced 131.17 Million Tonnes of coal in the FY 2022-23 against the production target of 122 million tonnes with a YoY growth of 7.14 per cent.

NCL was entrusted with a target of 122 Million Tonnes of coal dispatch in the Financial Year 2022-23, the company has dispatched 133.51 Million Tonnes of coal to its consumers majorly power sector with an impressive 6.25 per cent YoY growth. Reaffirming its commitment towards empowering the powerhouses,  NCL has dispatched 119.53 Million Tonnes to the power sector i.e. about 90% of the total coal produced by the company.  

The company has attained massive success in Overburden Removal while breaking all its records with unprecedented performance. NCL was given a target of 410 Million Cubic Meters of Overburden Removal for the Financial Year 2022-23, against which  NCL has removed a whooping 463.40 Million Cubic Meters in FY 22-23  with a huge growth of 27.78 per cent. Notably, NCL removed 100 Million CuM more OBR in FY 22-23 than 362.65 Million CuM in FY 21-22.

On this spectacular performance,  CMD, NCL  Bhola Singh, Director (Technical/Operations) Dr. Anindya Sinha, Director (Personnel),  Manish Kumar, Director (Finance)  Rajneesh Narain and Director (Technical/Projects & Planning)  Jitendra Malik  Congratulated to Team NCL.

CMD NCL Bhola Singh dedicated this golden success to the sincerity,  hard work, and commitment of NCL  Miners and stated that this was the result of concerted efforts, determination, and dedication of NCL employees, contract workers, and business partners towards making the country self-reliant in the energy sector.

In Financial Year 2022-23 against the target of Rs 1900 Crores as Capital Expenditure, NCL spent more than Rs 2300 Crores (Provisional fig.) towards First Mile Connectivity Projects, Modernization of the HEMM Fleet, Mine Expansion, and Commissioning of Solar Plant, etc.

It is imperative to note that all Production Units of NCL did very well and have achieved their Production and Dispatch Targets for FY 2022-23
