The next meeting of the Central Regional Council (CRC) will be held at Bastar in Chhattisgarh.
The decision was taken at the 25th meeting of the Council held in Varanasi. The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. Senior ministers from the member states, the Union Home Secretary, the Secretary of the Inter-State Council Secretariat, Chief Secretaries of the member states, and other senior officials from the states and central ministries and departments also participated in the meeting
The decision to hold meeting in Bastar, once infamous for the deadly Maoist violence, is being seen as a historic initiative towards bringing the remote and challenging areas of the country into the mainstream of national policy-making. Organizing a meeting of this level in an area like Bastar is a strong symbol of the policy of inclusive development and good governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
During the meeting, senior officials expressed hope that by the next council meeting, significant and decisive progress would have been made towards eradication of Maoist menace in Bastar. With this belief, the council aims to present the Bastar region as a model of peace, stability and development. The announcement is a testimony to better coordination and collective will between the state and the Center.
Welcoming the decision, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that organizing such a high-level meeting in Bastar was not only a matter of pride for the region, but also provide new energy to its development. He expressed confidence that with the support of the central government, Bastar is now moving towards becoming a symbol of possibilities, not struggle.
