NIA arrests three from Champaran for anti-Ayodhya posts and videos

A joint team of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Uttar Pradesh and Bihar police on Saturday morning arrested three persons from East Champaran district.

They are alleged to had put anti-Ayodhya posts and called for a meeting to protest construction of Ram temple. These posts and videos were made viral on January 31, 2023 when the two trucks carrying 25 tonnes stone from Nepal to Ayodhya were in Chakia town of the district bordering Nepal.

Police also raided the house of Riyaz Maroof, Secretary of the banned Popular Front of India, but he escaped.

As the trucks with stones to be used for idols of Ram and Sita passed through the Muslim dominated pockets of East Champaran, audio-video appeal asking people to take revenge of the December 6, 1992 demolition at Ayodhya and provoked them to demolish the Ram temple too. A student of Intermediate class, Danish was arrested from Kunwaa village and two others arrested from Imam Patti in Mehsi police station.  

They had allegedly posted provocative posts on face book against the Ram temple. Usman, a trainer for PFI who is also among the three arrested had circulated an audio-video appeal asked supporters to hold meetings against Ram temple and take steps to blow it up.

Kantesh Kumar Mishra, district SP of East Champaran said police are investigating the case and materials are being collected. He said East Champaran police co-operated with NIA. 

Last week, two huge stones from Gandaki river near Pokhara in Nepal were collected and taken to Ayodhya via North Bihar on two trucks. These stones will be carved out for Ram and Sita idols.
