NIA nabs arms trafficker

Patna: National Investigation Agency (NIA) today arrested one Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Chunnu Singh in connection with  stealing of weapon parts from Central Ordnance Depot, Jabalpur.

According to NIA spokesman, incriminating evidence to suggest involvement of Chunnu Singh and he was a conduit of arms in different parts of the country.

Referring to the background of the case, NIA said three AK series weapons were recovered in Munger from the house of one accused Rizwana Begum. The case was originally registered as FIR no. 323/2018 on September 7, 2018 at police station Muffasil, District.

The case was later taken up and re-registered by NIA for investigation.

The investigation in the case has revealed that prohibited bore/ AK series weapons were stolen and smuggled from the sheds of Central Ordnance Depot, Jabalpur by serving and retired personnel of the depot and sold to arms traffickers based in Munger, Bihar which were eventually sold to various Naxal organisations and criminal Syndicate.
