Srinagar, June 10
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team landed at Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir where terrorists on Sunday attacked a bus killing 10 people and injuring 33 others.
The terrorists ambushed the bus, carrying Shivkhori shrine pilgrims, presumably from Uttar Pradesh, at Kanda Morh in Reasi district on Sunday. According to officials, the bus, en route from the Shiv Khori shrine to Katra, was targetted by terrorists at around 06.10 pm when it reached Pouni area of Reasi district bordering Rajouri district. “Terrorists opened fire, causing the driver to lose control and the bus to plunge into a gorge,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Mohita Sharma
Immediately after the attack, security forces launched a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area and a temporary operational base was also established at the site to supervise the operation launched to nab the terrorists.
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has also arrived in Reasi and drones are also being used in search operation in dense forest areas in and around the incident site.
Security forces, including the Army, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have laid multi-dimensional cordon of the Teryath-Poni-Shiv Khori area bordering Rajouri district, they said. Armed with surveillance equipment, including drones and sniffer dogs, a massive combing operation has begun in the area and adjoining areas of the district, the officials said.
Terrorists involved in the attack are believed to be hiding in the upper reaches of neighbouring Rajouri and Reasi, sources said, adding that the area has dense forest belts and deep gorges.
Meanwhile, the NIA team has reached Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district and is coordinating with local police probing into the terror attack on a passenger bus that left nine people dead and several injured, officials said on Monday.
