Chief Minister Nitish Kumar predicted that the senior BJP leader and former deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi would be in a bigger role at the Centre.
Nitish Kumar said Sushil Modi was his colleague in Bihar, but now he had to follow the instructions of his party and move to New Delhi.
Nitish was with Sushil Modi at divisional commissioner office when BJP leader filed his nomination papers for the by-election to the Rajya Sabha.
Chief Minister said he wanted Sushil Modi with him in his ministry, but he had to follow BJP decision. Nitish said Sushil Modi would get bigger responsibility at the national level and Bihar would benefit. He had served in Bihar till now, and he would serve at the Centre too.
The Chief Minister paid compliments to his former deputy and said it was rare distinction that Sushil Modi was member of both the houses Vidhan Parishad and Vidhan sabha in Bihar and in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at the Centre.
Tarkeshwar Prasad and Renu Devi, both deputy Chief Ministers were categorical that Sushil Modi would be inducted into the Union cabinet.
Leaders of BJP, JDU, HAM(S) and VIP were present.
With 126 members in 243 members Bihar assembly, election of Sushil Kumar Modi is certain. The by-election was necessitated following death of union minister Ram Vilas Paswan in October.
Earlier, union law and justice minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad was elected in 2018, but vacated it after he was elected to Lok Sabha last year.
