Nitish Kumar leaves Bihar state politics

After a record 20 years innings as the chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on Thursday has been forced on Voluntary retirement when he filed his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha membership.

The union home minister, Amit Shah and BJP president Nitin Nabin were present when Nitish filed his papers before the secretary of Bihar assembly who is returning officer. Nitin is also a candidate.

In an emotional farewell message, Nitish promised full support to the successor government and assured he would guide the new ministry.

Amit Shah reciprocated sentiments of Nitish and he was free from charges of corruption and led Bihar to greater heights. He described 20 years rule of Nitish as Golden period of Bihar.

Against the speculations in political circles, Nishant Kumar,50 years old son of chief minister did not join JDU. Party leaders and workers waited till late evening in the party office, but he did not turn up.

Meanwhile, alternative government formation exercise began after Nitish submitted papers for Rajya Sabha. The new ministry will be headed by the BJP leader and would have two deputy chief ministers from JDU.

Under an agreement reached between the two parties,office of Assembly speaker will go to a JDU legislator.

A senior BJP leader claimed process for change of guards had started in November last year when Home ministry was snatched from Nitish Kumar who held the portfolio for the last 20 years gave it to BJP’s Samrat Chaudhury.
