NMDC, the country’s largest iron ore producer, has witnessed spectacular growth during the month of February 2026 in production and sales performance over the CPLY figures for both the month and the April–Feb period.

For the month ended February 2026, NMDC delivered its best-ever monthly performance for any
February on record, with production rising to 5.35 million tonnes, up 16% year-on-year from
4.62 million tonnes in February 2025. Sales recorded a 15.6% month-on-month increase, rising
from 3.98 million tonnes to 4.60 million tonnes. Production exceeded the target which reflects
efficient utilisation of mining capacity and improved operational rhythm across the company’s
assets.

NMDC maintained strong momentum in FY26, posting record April–Feb output with production
rising to 47.79 million tonnes, up 18% from 40.49 million tonnes in the corresponding period last
year, while sales reached 44.34 million tonnes, up by 10% from 40.20 million tonnes during the
same period in FY25.

Commenting on the performance, Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC, said: “This
performance reflects the discipline, dedication and coordination of our teams across all our
mining complexes. Every tonne we produce strengthens India’s steel value chain and contributes
to the nation’s infrastructure growth. As we move forward towards FY27, our focus remains
clear: enhance capacity responsibly, improve operational efficiency, and ensure reliable raw
material security for the country. The credit truly goes to our employees whose commitment
drives NMDC’s progress every single day.”

Additionally, all three of NMDC’s production units have collectively delivered record output. As
a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Steel, NMDC remains focused on supporting India’s
growing steel demand by strengthening productivity, efficiency and cost competitiveness across
its mining operations.
