As many as 116 students coming from the worst Maoist-infested pocket of Bastar in Chhattisgarh have found jobs in the multinational companies (MNCs) after pursuing courses in the institutions run by the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).
Country’s largest iron ore producer is running two educational institutions to provide technical education to the local youth of Bacheli, where it has a major project. Of them, one is NMDC DAV Polytechnic situated in Jawanga Education City in Geedam of Dantewada district.
A placement drive was conducted by renowned multinational companies at the campus in which 123 students participated. According to NMDC officials, 116 students were selected by two leading MNCs including Bengaluru-based Wistron and Schneider Electric, Hyderabad.
The students passed through different phases of examination that included written and interview. The NMDC, Bacheli and NMDC Polytechnic, Jawanga are making continuous efforts for the placement of the students as it would facilitate their progress and also their respective areas. Not only NMDC Polytechnic, students of various polytechnics of the state also appeared in the selection process.
The Principal of the institution expressed his gratitude to the NMDC for the facilities, guidance and support for the successful operation of the institution and also expressed his gratitude to the DRO of DAV Prashant Kumar.
In his address, Kumar asked the students to select the right direction to their career by taking full advantage of the lab equipment and other education related facilities provided by NMDC. He said students benefited from the continuous efforts of NMDC DAV Polytechnic.
Special Guest and Manager (CSR) NMDC, Bacheli while boosting the morale of the students, said that today the importance of technical education was must in every field. Students should try to get employment opportunities outside the Bastar region.
The officials of the MNCs briefed the candidates about the company’s profile and job culture before conducting the interview.
