Hyderabad, October 2
NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer, paid respect to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 154th Jayanti today at its Head Office and all the Projects across the country.
The Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at Head Office began with the lighting of the lamp and garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s photo by B Sahoo, ED (Production Coordination & Safety), M Jayapal Reddy, ED (RP & RED), A S Pardha Saradhi, ED /Company Secretary and Satyender Rai, ED (P&A and DT) in the presence of
senior officials and employees.
The National Miner ran a massive Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign in the honor of Mahatma Gandhi from 15th of September to the 2nd of October 2023. During this two-week program, various interactive workshops, competitions, and cleanliness drives were organized to encourage environmentally conscious behavior.
A prize distribution event was also held today to felicitate Safai Mitra and to award the winners of the Swachhata Hi Sewa competitions.
On the occasion, B Sahoo, ED (PC & S) said, ‘This Gandhi Jayanti, let us reflect on Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless wisdom and work towards developing a more compassionate and inclusive society, and work towards a cleaner, greener, and more peaceful world.’
While addressing the gathering, Satyender Rai, ED (P&A & DT) said ‘this day holds great significance in India and around the world, as it serves as a reminder of Gandhi’s principles. On this Gandhi Jayanti, may we all be inspired by the fundamentals of Satya (truth), ahimsa (nonviolence), and swaraj (self-rule) that
Mahatma Gandhi stood for.’
The event concluded with a Cleanliness Drive at the Head office with the participation of senior officials and employees.
