NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) has achieved the unique distinction of being the first integrated steel plant in India to be awarded four Integrated Management System (ISO) licences simultaneously.
D Chakraborty, Deputy Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) handed over the licence certificates to K Praveen Kumar, Executive Director and Head, NSL Steel Plant, Nagarnar, at Kolkata on Monday.
The licences awarded include Environmental Management System (EMS) ISO 14001; Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001; Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) ISO 45001 and Energy Management System (EnMS) ISO 50001.
Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge), NSL said, “We are very proud to receive these prestigious ISO certifications which not only acknowledge our technical expertise but also our determination to raise the standards of steel production in India. This milestone reinforces our belief in the power of continuous improvement and innovation. Looking ahead, NSL is on the path to break-even and we are committed to achieving this goal by Q3 FY25.”
The certification process involves rigorous testing and evaluation to ensure compliance with relevant Indian standards. These certifications reflect the essence of NSL’s values and its deep commitment towards delivering quality, maintaining safety and protecting the environment. The recognition from BIS underlines NMDC Steel Limited’s dedication to meet stringent standards and its constant pursuit of
continuous improvement.
K Praveen Kumar, ED, NSL and Head, NSL Steel Plant, Nagarnar pledged to uphold the reputation of NSL, saying, “We look forward to continuing our journey towards continuous improvement.
