Chairman-cum-Managing Director of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Sumit Deb said that the country’s largest iron ore producer would aggressively pursue to augment the capacity.
“NMDC’s vision reverberates with the vision of National Steel Policy as it aims to augment annual iron ore production capacity to 67 MnT (million tonnes) by 2025 and 100 MnT by 2030.” Deb said while addressing the two-day International Conference on “Indian Minerals and Metals Industry – Transition Towards 2030 and Vision 2047”. The event that started today has been organised by NMDC Ltd, Ministry of Steel, Ministry of Mines and FICCI.
Deb said to achieve the target set, they would continue to aggressively pursue their initiatives to augment capacity and upgrade operations across the mines with state-of-the-art technology.
“NMDC is at the forefront of iron ore production in India. In FY22, the total production of iron ore was more than 42 MnT, which is the highest among all iron ore producers and miners in India.” Deb said.
The two-day event is being organised in commemoration of the 75 glorious years of India’s Independence and the ongoing “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The key objective of the event is to have deliberations on the roadmap for the minerals and metals sector to achieve the ‘Vision 2047’.
The programme is being graced by speakers from across industry, policy and academia. Global and domestic producers, mineral organisations, policy makers, mine equipment manufacturers, country heads of global corporates, Central and State Government officials among others would be present and address the conference.
The conclave has been involving deliberations and analysis of global and Indian minerals and metals industries, interaction of emerging technologies in the mines space, talks on the requisite policy environment.
