National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has commissioned the second unit of 1980 MW power plant in Nabinagar of Bihar.
Nabinagar Power Generating Company is a wholly owned Subsidiary of NTPC Limited. Earlier, it was a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC and Bihar State Power Holding Company.
The first unit of 1980 MW Nabinagar plant, which would have three units of 660 Mw each, was commissioned in July 2019.
About 85 per cent of the power generated from the Nabinagar power project would be allocated to Bihar. Besides, it would also feed the states of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Sikkim.
“In line with the Corporate Disclosure requirements, we wish to inform that Unit-2 of 660 MW capacity of Nabinagar Power Generating Company Limited (wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited) (3 x 660
MW) is hereby declared on commercial operation,” country’s largest power producer said in a regulatory filing today. With this, the commercial capacity of NTPC group will become 65825 MW, it added.
Present installed capacity of NTPC Group is 66,085 MW (including 13,425 MW through JVs/Subsidiaries) comprising of 47 NTPC Stations (23 Coal based stations, 7 gas-based stations, 1 Hydro station, 1 small hydro, 14 Solar PV and 1 Wind based Station) and 26 Joint Venture stations (9 coal based, 4 gas based, 8 hydro, 1 small hydro 2 Wind and 2 Solar PV).
