The 20 MW Auraiya Floating Solar PV project of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Uttar Pradesh has been fully commissioned.

“Consequent upon successful commissioning, entire capacity of 20 MW Auraiya Floating Solar PV Project at Auraiya, UP, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 Hrs. of 16.09.2022,” NTPC said in a regulatory filing today

The 20MW Auraiya floating solar PV power project is being developed on the reservoir of NTPC Auraiya Gas Power Station in Uttar Pradesh. The project is a part of NTPC’s initiative to drive the floating solar market in India.

The first part capacity of 8 MW was commissioned in November 2020.
The project has been won by NTPC under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding conducted in 2019 by Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Authority (UPNEDA) and is being developed under EPC model through M/s L&T.

With this, standalone installed and commercial capacity of NTPC will become 57489 MW, while group installed and commercial capacity of NTPC will become 70084 MW.
