Power major accelerates India’s clean energy transition

The NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL) Group has achieved a significant milestone in its renewable energy journey by surpassing 10 GW of installed capacity, following the declaration of Commercial Operation of 78.02 MW under the NTPC REL Khavda-I Renewable Energy Project and 90 MW under the Khavda-II Project, effective 00:00 hrs today (March 31, 2026).
With this, NGEL’s total installed capacity has reached 10,076 MW as of March 31, 2026. This milestone underscores an exceptional capacity addition of 4,175 MW during FY 2025–26, including a remarkable 2,065 MW commissioned in Q4 alone, reflecting the Group’s accelerated execution capabilities and strong commitment to renewable energy expansion.
The latest commissioning brings the NTPC REL Khavda-I project to its full capacity of 1,255 MW, while Khavda-II has reached 1,005 MW out of its planned 1,200 MW capacity. Collectively, the Khavda Renewable Energy Park now contributes a substantial 2,560 MW of installed capacity, all commissioned within the current financial year.
Speaking on this landmark achievement, CEO of NGEL, Sarit Maheshwari said, “Crossing the 10 GW installed capacity mark is a defining milestone for NGEL and a testament to our relentless focus on execution and sustainability. The rapid capacity addition, especially during the last financial year, reflects our strong commitment to driving India’s clean energy transition.
