The installed capacity of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Ltd had surged to 66875 MW with the successful trial run of the second unit of Darlipali plant in Odisha.
India’s largest integrated energy company had set up Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station at Darlipali village in Sundargarh district of Odisha with a capacity of 1600 MW. Plant is under construction by Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL), L&T Power. The first unit of 800 MW was commissioned in December 2019.
The second unit of 800 MW capacity at NTPC Darlipali in Odisha successfully completed its trial operation, the company said. With the completion of the project, the total installed capacity of NTPC group has reached 66,875 MW.
Currently, NTPC Group has 71 Power stations including 29 Renewable projects. Also, the company has set a target to install 60 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy (RE) capacity by 2032.
On Thursday, the company commissioned the second unit of 1980 MW power plant in Nabinagar of Bihar. Nabinagar Power Generating Company is a wholly owned Subsidiary of NTPC Limited. Earlier, it was a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC and Bihar State Power Holding Company.
The first unit of 1980 MW Nabinagar plant, which would have three units of 660 Mw each, was commissioned in July 2019.
