On the 47th Raising Day, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) got a big applause.
“NTPC is a special company, it is the single largest provider of energy to our country,” Union Minister for Power R K Singh said at a function organised to mark the 47th Raising Day of the country’s largest power producer in New Delhi on Sunday. “Energy is a prime requirement for growth, if we have to grow, we need to ensure that we have sufficient quantities of energy,” the Minister added.
“NTPC has always exhibited the highest standard of professionalism. NTPC is among the leaders of the companies under MoP (Ministry of Power).” It is a great Day and those who established this company must be congratulated, he added.
On the occasion, the power minister inaugurated the Shram Kaushal portal. A cultural program was presented with the participation of children of NTPC Family to mark the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NTPC Gurdeep Singh said: “We aim to touch 100 GW by 2025. We are exploring newer avenues in our journey to be a sustainable integrated power company under the guidance of MoP.” NTPC’s CanDo Spirit will be the catalyst for the energy transition that they have embarked upon, he added.
NTPC Limited, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, is an Indian statutory corporation. It engaged in generation of electricity and allied activities. It is a statutory corporation incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 and is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. The headquarters of the company is situated at New Delhi. NTPC’s core function is the generation and distribution of electricity to State Electricity Boards in India.
The body also undertakes consultancy and turnkey project contracts that involve engineering, project management, construction management, and operation and management of power plants.
NTPC is India’s largest power utility with an installed capacity of 67,657.5 MW (including JVs), plans to become a 130 GW company by 2032. Country’s largest power producer aims to be the world’s largest and best power major.
