NTPC Mining Limited HQ celebrates company’s 50th Foundation Day

NTPC Mining Limited (NML) Headquarters, Ranchi, celebrated 50th NTPC Raising Day with great enthusiasm and gaiety.

Chief Guest for the occasion, Animesh Jain, Chief Executive Officer, NML and Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) unfurled the NTPC flag followed by NTPC Geet in august presence of HODs, employees and family members. On the occasion, Jain congratulated the employees for embarking on 50 years of NTPC journey in power generation.

Speaking on the occasion, Jain said “it is a day of great pride and joy for employees of NTPC,Fifty years of journey – is not a small achievement. On November 7, 1975, NTPC took its first steps in the energy sector, and since then it has come a long way. The last 50 years have been a story of dedication, hard work, and the contribution of employees and associates. The organisation faced difficulties, welcomed new opportunities, and emerged stronger each time”

He added “from its first installed thermal power unit of 200 MW commissioned in February 1983 at Singrauli, NTPC has now become a 76+ GW energy company lighting every 4th bulb in the country and ensuring reliable, affordable supply of power.Over the decades, NTPC has significantly expanded its capacity and portfolio, including mining & incorporating renewable energy sources like solar and wind, aligning with global sustainability trends. The company has also been at the forefront of adopting innovative technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact”

“NTPC, India’s largest power utility, achieved impressive growth, with an installed capacity of 76,475.68 MW and a record generation of 422 BUs in FY 2024, with 6% growth. The company leads in PLF at 77.3 per cent for its coal stations. NTPC is focused on clean energy, aiming for over 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032, and expanding total capacity to 130 GW+ “said Jain.

Speaking on NTPC Mining Limited (NML) Jain said “with the motto “Mining for Atmanirbhar”, NTPC has made remarkable strides in coal production to fuel its power projects. In FY 2023-24, coal production grew by 48 per cent, while coal dispatch increased by 55 per cent, producing 34.39 million metric tonnes of coal, which accounted for 13 per cent of NTPC’s total requirement and striving for 15 per cent requirement of the NTPC’s Coal requirement from its power stations in the current fiscal year.

As part of its 50th anniversary, NTPC Mining aims to produce over 50 million metric tonnes of coal, aiming to be 100+ million metric tonnes company in the future. Safety is a top priority and remains a core value for NTPC, with NTPC Mining winning safety awards, including the DGMS Mines Safety Award-2024 for Pakri Barwadih Mines and 5-star ratings for Dulanga and Talaipalli Mines. The company also set records with its highest-ever monthly production of 3.76 MMT in June 2024 and 1.37 MMT of coal dispatch in a single day in September 2024, said Jain.

NTPC is empowering lives beyond energy by serving local communities. Under the CSR program, it has facilitated 80 PAPs of Coal Mining Projects for Skill development training in association with CIPET, Ranchi for 6 months. On the occasion to celebrate the special day, winners of various competitions of Hindi Pakhwada including employees and family members were felicitated.
