NTPC Northern Region Headquarters celebrated the 76th Republic Day at Lucknow on Sunday with patriotic pomp.
N S Rao, Regional Executive Director (North), unfurled the national flag and paid tribute to the martyrs who fought for India’s freedom. In his speech, he highlighted NTPC’s significant contributions to India’s development over 49 years and its upcoming 50th anniversary in 2025. He also outlined NTPC’s commitment to sustainable energy and its target to reach 130 GW capacity by 2032.
Rao added that NTPC Northern Region is special as it is producing electricity in almost all areas, including thermal, hydro, and solar and shared some key achievements of NTPC s Northern Region this year that included generation of 101.15 Billion Units, which is 33.97 per cent of NTPC’s total output, Rihand, Singrauli, and Vindhyachal ranking 1st, 2nd, and 5th in NTPC’s Thermal PLF rankings (Dec 2024) etc,
Northern Region’s share in India’s total power generation was 7.35 per cent by January 20, 2025.
Vindhyachal-U#3 set a record with 644 continuous operational days.
The RED (North) emphasized NTPC’s safety culture, aiming for a “Zero Harm” workplace, and noted environmental efforts like planting over 3 lakh saplings in 2024-25. NR has achieved more than 84 per cent ash utilization (100 per cent achieved in Dadri and 90 per cent in Singrauli and Rihand Power stations).
NTPC is also active in CSR initiatives, including solar projects, health centres, and welfare programs. Welfare wing of NTPC -NRHQ, Uttara Club has been undertaking several notable welfare activities, to make the republic day special, the club distributed essential food items including 50 pairs of shoes, Hygiene kits and Winter garments to underprivileged children and also it distributed Malnutrition Kit and Hygiene Kit Distribution to girl children at Government Primary School Gulam Hussain Purwa, Lucknow.
The Republic Day event concluded with the release of tri-colour balloons, marking the occasion with pride and unity.
