Security personnel have gunned down 1034 terrorists in last three years, all most all in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
This was informed by Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt in a written reply to Anand Sharma in Rajya Sabha today. The Minister said 177 security personnel including Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) were also killed in action.
Maximum casualty has been reported from Jammu and Kashmir, interestingly, before the abrogation of article 370 that deprived the erstwhile state to enjoy special status.
Of the 1034 terrorists killed, 1033 are from Jammu and Kashmir while one was gunned down in New Delhi in 2021. In 2019, 594 terrorists were killed; all in Jammu and Kashmir while 244 were eliminated in 2020 in the troubled state. In 2021 (till November 15, 2021), 196 militants were killed.
Of the security personnel, 80 were killed in 2019, 62 in 2020 and 35 were martyred in 2021 till November 15, 2021.
