The drop in the oxygen saturation level of Lalu Prasad came as a stumbling block in the return of RJD President in the active politics.
After getting bail from the Ranchi High Court, Lalu addressed the RJD leaders for the first time from the New Delhi residence of his daughter and Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharati. The virtual meet was organised on Sunday afternoon.
He addressed about 120 leaders in Patna and other parts of the state through video conferencing. According to the state RJD president Jagdananad Singh, RJD legislators, Rajya Sabha members and those who contested the assembly elections last year were invited. “Since Lalu ji is our guardian, we needed his guidance”, Singh said and claimed Lalu addressed the leaders after 41 months since he was jailed at Birsa Munda Prison in Ranchi after being convicted in fodder scam.
Lalu Prasad could speak to the RJD leaders only for three minutes as his health deteriorated. His son and leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswhi Prasad Yadav said the oxygen level of Laluji had dropped to critical 85 level, hence he could not speak further.
During his brief address, Lalu told the leaders, “country is passing through the worst crisis due to Corona. Large number of people have died. I am not able to come to Patna. You should start assistance and relief centres for the Corona patients.”
Soon after, he developed respiratory problems leading to suspension of the conference.
Tejashwi later informed that Lalu’s SPOs had dropped to 85 and needed immediate medical assistance. He has asked the party leaders to reintroduce Free kitchen (Lalu Rasoi) for the poor hit by lockdown. Leaders informed Lalu about the problems of the Corona patients who were denied hospital beds and oxygen. However, no discussion could take place.
