Pankaj Kumar Satija, Mining Engineer from ISM Dhanbad and Chief, Regulatory Affairs, Tata Steel was elected unanimously as the new Chairman of Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI) NCR Chapter.
Satija has been Chairman of MEAI Bara Jamda Chapter in the past and is currently involved with CII, FICCI and FIMI in various capacities.
The General Body Meeting of Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI) Delhi NCR Chapter was organised on June 26, 2021 where the incoming members of the Executive Committee were elected.
MEAI proudly represents all professionals serving the minerals and mining industry in India. MEAI has a membership strength of more than 5000 spread in 25 regional chapters across the country.
The members of the Delhi NCR Chapter of MEIA include Mining Engineers, Geologists, Metallurgists, Geo-scientists, Environmental Engineers, Allied Engineers serving the mining industry, Educators, and Researchers.
The meeting started with the Welcome address by Secretary Deepak Gupta, who is Former DDG, DGMS and currently Director-Corp. Affairs with Fomento Group. He enlisted the activities done by the Chapter during the year which advanced the mining community through information exchange, knowledge sharing and professional development. Condolences were paid to the mining officials who passed away due to Covid.
His address was followed by selection and introduction of members of the new Executive Committee. Members of the new Executive Committee were proposed and seconded for each of the EC Office bearers/Members, during the Election Process.
Satija in his welcome address mentioned that he will carry forward the good work done by the past committee with great zeal and enthusiasm. He mentioned about preparing an activity charter for the year and sought support and guidance from all the members. He thanked the members for showing confidence in him for the prestigious post. He said that, the association has played a key role by providing a platform to the mining Engineers who are playing an important role in bringing out the natural resources useful for the development of the country under one roof.
V K Jain, past Director, NMDC was elected as the Vice Chairman of the new Committee.
For the position of Secretary, Mr. Deep Krishna, Mining Engineer from IIT (BHU) and Founder and Managing Director, DKG Labs was unanimously selected by the members. In his welcome remarks Mr Deep mentioned about the growing role of digitalization in Mining and said that he would take steps to induce Digital Mining in India through the forum of MEAI.
All the other members of the incoming committee were elected through voice vote and introduced to the members.
