The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal, Mines, and Steel arrived for a study visit to SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant on Wednesday.
Upon their arrival at Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the committee was welcomed by Amarendu Prakash, Chairman (Steel Authority of India Limited), and Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (SAIL-BSP) at Ispat Bhawan.
The visit commenced with an informal discussion in the Director-In-Charge’s Conference Hall, where the committee members engaged in discussions about the current status of Greenfield and Brownfield Projects under Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
Amarendu Prakash, Chairman (SAIL), members of the Senior Management of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), and Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (SAIL-BSP) provided the committee members with an in-depth overview of the Plant’s achievements, technological innovations, and upcoming projects.
Following the meeting, the committee members departed on a tour of the Plant’s various production units. During his Plant visit, the committee members visited key areas of the Bhilai Steel Plant and took keen interest in operations at Modex Units, including Blast Furnace 8, and Universal Rail Mill. The committee witnessed the production of hot metal at BF-8, and the rolling of the world’s longest 130-metre rail at URM. They were also briefed on the Plant’s state-of-the-art technical operations and production systems.
After gaining a detailed understanding of the Plant’s operations and products, the committee members concluded their visit and departed for Raipur from Bhilai Niwas.
