Chhaya Mishra, former joint secretary of Advocates Association, on Wednesday strongly condemned the early morning arrest of the Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami by Mumbai police in a case that was “closed.”
In a statement, leading lawyer of Patna High Court Chhaya Mishra said action and execution of Mumbai police was terrifying and against the normal and standard procedures.
Arnab’s wife Samyabrata has alleged he was arrested without warrant and taken to Raigad. He was physically assaulted, Mrs Goswami alleged. The editor was treated like petty criminal, denied an opportunity to even meet his son in the next room.
Afraid that Arnab Goswami would be safe in police custody, Chhaya Mishra said, adding she strongly castigate the execution of the arrest process in the case.
