Peur ( Bhojpur), December 1
The village, 50 km East from the state capital, refreshed the memories of movie Peepli Live as the scene revisited when Saba Ahmad, one of the 41 workers rescued in Silkyari tunnel arrived on Friday morning.
Hundreds of media persons including local and national television channels and print landed in the village on the banks of Sone river. Feasts were already arranged.
Saba ‘s two sisters accompanied him from Patna airport, where he was received by the labour Minister Surendra Ram and officials of the labour department.
State government had arranged taxis from airport to the villages of the workers. An official of labour department dropped Saba at his home.
PEUR is predominantly a Muslim populated village, with most of them working outside the state and some locals engaged in sand mining from Sone river.
Unlike other villages in the Sahar block, Peur is comparatively economically rich which is evident from the large number of pucca houses, huge campus of even Saba’s house.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a telephonic conversation with Saba and assured him employment in the state.
All the five workers told media persons at JP International airport that Bihar government should provide jobs in the state to prevent migration to other states. Saba claimed he had been engaged by a private company in mining activities for the last 14 years and had worked in Gujarat earlier. His primary experience in sand mining in Sone river helped him in earth mining activities.
