Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent sacred Chadar to be offered at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah during the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
The 813th Urs, an annual commemoration of the revered Sufi saint, will began on December 28, 2024, with rituals and ceremonies that will continue through the festival. Devotees from all over the world converge at this shrine to seek blessings and participate in spiritual festivals.
The Chadar will be offered at the revered Ajmer Sharif Dargah during the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, marking PM Modi’s 11th consecutive offering since assuming office in 2014.
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju posted in social media platform X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the Chadar that would be offered on his behalf at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah on the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. This gesture reflects his deep respect for India’s rich spiritual heritage and the enduring message of harmony and compassion, he said.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on an X post said: “Greetings on the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. May this occasion bring happiness and peace into everyone’s lives.”
The ceremonial offering chadar placed at the shrine of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (Mazar-e-Akhdas) is a symbol of devotion and reverence. During Urs, such sacrifices are considered worship and are believed to bring blessings and fulfill vows.
Last year, then Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Jamal Siddiqui presented the chadar on behalf of PM Modi and local representatives at the 812th Urs. This year, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and BJP Minority Front president Jamal Siddiqui will be honored to make offerings at the shrine.
