Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the cleanliness initiative taken by the women at Bilha in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh.
“The example of Bilha in Chhattisgarh is also great. Here, women were imparted training in waste management, and together, they changed the face of the city,” Modi said while delivering the 124th edition of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai joined citizens across the country today in listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 124th edition of the monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme at the CM’s residence in Raipur.
Sai said that ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is not just a platform of communication, but a powerful national forum that brings forth stories of innovation, public initiatives, and inspiration from across the country, filling citizens with fresh energy and motivation.
The Chief Minister said that today was a moment of special pride for Chhattisgarh, as the Prime Minister mentioned the innovative work led by women in the Nagar Panchayat of Bilha, Bilaspur district, in the field of cleanliness. PM Modi stated that “Women of Bilha were trained in waste management and they came together to completely transform the face of the town.” CM Sai noted that this recognition is a matter of immense pride and inspiration for every citizen of Chhattisgarh.
“The women of Bilha have proved that when determination and cooperation come together, no transformation is impossible. This success story in cleanliness has brought national recognition to Chhattisgarh. With their resolve, these women have helped make Bilha one of the cleanest towns in the country,” the CM added.
He emphasized that the innovation shown by the women of Chhattisgarh in the cleanliness mission was rightfully acknowledged today by the Prime Minister on a national platform. He said this demonstrates that cleanliness is not merely a government programme, but a mass movement driven by social awareness and active women participation.
The Chief Minister informed that seven cities of Chhattisgarh, including Nagar Panchayat Bilha, have been honoured at the national level under the Swachh Bharat Mission by the Hon’ble President of India. Congratulating the elected representatives of urban bodies, Municipal Commissioners, CMO officials, Swachhta Didis and sanitation workers, he said that this recognition is the result of the dedication and hard work of all involved.
He further shared that during his recent visit to Jashpur district, he learned that all five urban bodies of the district have shown remarkable improvement in the national cleanliness rankings. In appreciation of this performance, he personally felicitated the sanitation workers and Swachhta Didis two days ago in Jashpur.
Sai added that a positive environment has been created across Chhattisgarh in the field of cleanliness, and that the state government’s commitment and sincerity in implementing the Swachh Bharat Mission is now clearly visible in the results.
Concluding his statement, the Chief Minister said:“‘Mann Ki Baat’ has today become a national movement that transforms ordinary stories from every corner of the country into extraordinary sources of inspiration. It is a living testimony to the vibrancy of Indian democracy.”
