PM Narendra Modi’s mother admitted to hospital, doctors say ‘condition stable’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Hiraben (99) was on Wednesday admitted to a super-specialty hospital here following some health issues.

Hiraben, who stays with Prime Minister’s younger brother Pankaj in Raysan village near Gandhinagar city, complaint uneasiness and was rushed to the U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad. She has been admitted to the hospital for a check-up.

“U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, Ahmedabad hospital’s spokesperson hereby informing that Hon’ble Prime Minister’s mother is admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, Ahmedabad, and her condition is stable” the hospital said in a statement.

A senior BJP leader said she could be discharged in a day or two. Modi visited the hospital in the afternoon to meet his ailing mother. After reaching Ahmedabad, he drove to the hospital and remained there for over an hour.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday wished speedy recovery for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother. “The love between a mother and a son is eternal and priceless. Modi ji, my love and support is with you in this difficult time. I hope your mother gets well soon,” Rahul Gandhi wrote in a tweet.

Priyanka Gandhi also wished the same and said, “Received the news that the mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji is unwell. We all are with him in this hour. I pray to God that she gets well soon.”
