Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took Bihar down the memory lanes; recalling how the government and administration worked during the 15 years RJD rule between 1990 and 2005.
While focusing on what Nitish Kumar did for Bihar in the last 15 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not miss to refresh people’s memory pertaining to RJD rule under Lalu Prasad Yadav. The first time voters in Bihar would probably be unaware of the previous rule and Modi did not falter to hit the right chord.
“The visionary leadership of Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi has led to development of rural areas too. For the two young leaders, development is the key agenda,” PM said while launching seven development schemes-third in the series of 10 before the coming assembly elections.
Modi sought blessings of Chhathi maiya (Sun God) for the success of the projects. The four days Chhath, the most popular festival in Bihar, will coincide with the election.
Modi recalled the 15 years of RJD rule previous to NDA regime and said governance was absent. There was no development and if any development took place, it was marked with scams. He hoped Bihar will be self reliant due to good governance.
Prime Minister today launched water supply and sewage treatment schemes for seven places-Patna, Chapra, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Siwan, Buxar and Jamalpur under the Namami Gange Scheme. He will lay the foundation of Rs 2926 crore Ganga 14.5 kms long four lane bridge linking Patna to Hajipur next week.
Union cabinet today sanctioned Rs 1464 crore for construction of second AIIMS at Darbhanga in North Bihar. Commercial flights operations will start from Darbhanga soon as union civil aviation minister Hardip Puri, who visited Darbhanga on Sunday inaugurated the airport terminal.
The Prime Minister appealed to the people to stop discharge of sewage materials into the Ganga that passes through 20 big cities of Bihar. He wished potable water was supplied to all villages soon.
The schemes launched today included Rs 152 crore sewage treatment plants at Beur and Karmalichak in Patna, development of ghats at Muzaffarpur, assured piped water supply schemes for Chapra, Siwan, Buxar, Jamalpur and Munger.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recalled his student days and said during his school days, he used to take bath at a ghat of Ganga near Bakhtiarpur and visited the Gandhi Ghat at Bihar College of Engineering, Patna during his college days. Then, Ganga was clean.
All inaugurations and foundations are being conducted through video conferencing from New Delhi.
The two-member team of Election Commission of India which is in Bihar met the district magistrates of 19 districts and sought details of the poll management. Schedule will be announced after the team submits a report to the Commission.
