Raipur police have redesigned the strategy with a more effective plan to check crime in the capital city of Chhattisgarh.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Raipur, Dr Santosh Singh late Wednesday night convened an emergency meeting. The crime review meeting held in the police control room was attended by station in-charges and gazetted officers of the district.

The officials have been instructed to take action on drug addicts, miscreants, listed goons and drug abuse with zero tolerance. Drug abuse is the root cause of most serious crimes, hence asked to intensify the campaign against them.

Besides, the team has been asked to crack down on drug abuse in public places and drunk driving. The police would inflict fear among those engaged in violating the law and committing crime.

Dr Singh asked his subordinates to react fast and rush to the scene of crime so that the criminal could be nabbed on the spot. The police were working on the plan to cancel bail of habitual criminals, lodge cases under strict National Security Act (NSA) and other preventive action, banishment from district and confiscation of property of absconding persons.

The police have been instructed to intensify checking during patrolling at sensitive places identified as per crime and to hold meetings with people. During crime review, the officials were asked to file challan quickly in registered cases so that the victim gets justice that would facilitate minimizing crime pendency by the end of this year.
