New Delhi, September 28
A flurry of political activities has started in Congress as a committed man is set to leave the party and a communist likely to make an entry.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is reaching the national capital today. He is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda in the second half.
The development comes hardly within 10 days of Amarinder Singh resigning as chief minister of Punjab on September 18. He said he was “humiliated” as the party high command acted on the line of his bete noire and newly appointed state Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Soon after tendering his resignation, Singh has made it clear that his crusade against Sidhu will now start. He categorically stated that he won’t accept Sidhu as the next chief minister or the party face in the Assembly polls and openly alleged that he is pro-Pakistan that is against the national interest.
The issue of nationalism raised by the former army officer can get a push from the BJP. Hence, the speculation is rife that he is all set to join the saffron camp.
Another development is unfolding in the Congress where the party is all set to embrace Kanhaiya Kumar, the JNU alumni and Left Wing activist who has been in the spot for campaign against the saffron group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kanhaiya Kumar, who recently uninstalled his personal air-conditioner from the CPI, is going to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to make a formal entry in the party. Kumar is presently a member of the CPI’s National Executive Council, a top decision-making body of the party.
Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch (RDAM) MLA Jignesh Mewani from Gujarat is also expected to join the Congress today.
