Ranchi, April 5
With the mercury level rising in the state of Jharkhand, the political temperature too has soared while desperately exercising to keep its house in order.
The Congress party, which is part of the coalition government headed by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Tuesday summoned its senior leaders to New Delhi. Besides all the four ministers from the party quota in the Hemant Soren government, 25 top Congress leaders went to the national capital.
The leaders held a detailed discussion with the state’s Congress in charge Avinash Pande. The recent political developments in the state have buzzed the power corridor.
JMM MLA and daughter-in-law of the JMM patriarch Shibu Soren, Sita Soren has recently met Governor Ramesh Bais that sparked off debate that she is indirectly in touch with the BJP to topple the Hemant Soren government. The meeting of Congress leader and state’s Health Minister with former Chief Minister and BJP leader Raghubar Das has added flavour to the development.
Though Congress high command claimed that the state leaders were summoned as Hemant Soren was allegedly not responding to the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) proposal sent by the Congress, sources said the grand-old party has been sceptical to keep its cadre intact. Many Congress MLAs are reportedly in touch with the former Congress in-charge for Jharkhand RPN Singh, who has crossed over to the BJP.
The Congress leadership envisages a split in the legislature party and has been pulling all the strings to keep the cadre integral. Moreover, the party is eyeing a seat in Rajya Sabha as two seats for the Upper House are going to be vacant in July. For this, the party has to keep all the 18 MLAs under a roof.
Interestingly, after a marathon deliberation in New Delhi, Pande is landing in Ranchi again after two days on April 7 that indicates political weather is inclement in the Congress party.
