The simmering political difference between Narendra Modi and K Chandrashekhar Rao reflected in the established protocol as the Telangana Chief Minister did not turn up to receive the Prime Minister who landed in Hyderabad on Saturday a two-day visit. Tamilisai Soundararajan
The state government had deputed Talasani Srinivas Yadav, the state minister for animal husbandry, fisheries, dairy development and cinematography, as minister-in-waiting to receive and send off the Prime Minister. She received the Prime Minister who landed at the Begumpet airport at around 3 pm today.
Modi is in the city to attend the two-day meeting of BJP national executive that started today.
This is not the first time that KCR has ignored the protocol and deputed a minister to receive the Prime Minister. In February this year, Prime Minister Modi visited Hyderabad to unveil the ‘Statue of Equality’ — the 216-ft statue of 11th century Vaishnavaite saint Sri Ramanujacharya — at Sriramanagaram. KCR skipped citing he was unwell with some COVID symptoms.
On May 26, Prime Minister Modi reached Hyderabad for the celebrations of 20 years of the Indian School of Business. Telangana Chief Minister was on extensive campaign with his ‘unified opposition’ agenda and did not come to receive the Prime Minister. He later left for Bengaluru to meet Deve Gowda.
