The Election Commission of India had found the report submitted by the West Bengal government related to the alleged attack on Mamata Banerjee as sketchy and asked for an elaborated version.

Facing a tough electoral challenge from the BJP, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday created a scene by alleging that she was attacked during an election campaign in Nandigram. She claimed suffering injuries on her leg and tried to take a political mileage out for it.

Her picture from the hospital bed with plaster pose went viral. Two days later when she appeared in a wheel-chair with crepe bandage, propelling the netizen to mock the “miracle cure”. The twitter was flooded with “Mamata miracle” of curing a fracture in just 48 hours.

Mamata had planned to conduct the campaign for the ensuing state election in a wheel-chair in an overt signal to gain sympathy votes. For the assault, she had not accused the state police that was responsible for her security that also raised suspicions about the incident.

Soon after the election schedule was announced, the Trinamool Congress had levelled serious allegations against the poll panel. Now, the commission is all set to get to the bottom of the entire incident of the reported attack on Mamata Banerjee as the state government was reportedly covering up the facts.

The Election Commission has sought more details on West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee’s alleged attack incident. The EC said that the report submitted by the state chief secretary on her injuries was not comprehensive enough. As per the sources, the poll panel has sought more details from the state chief secretary by Saturday evening.

The Election Commission had sought a detailed report from West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, Special Observer Ajay Nayak and Special Police Observer Vivek Dubey by Friday evening. The Bengal government’s report, however, was found to be inadequate and ‘sketchy’ by the commission. A senior official said, “The report from West Bengal, which the Commission has got, appeared quite sketchy and without any details of the incident like how it happened or who could be behind it.”
