The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, conducted a crucial meeting with Divisional Commissioners, all range Inspector General of Police, District Collectors, and all district Superintendent of Police here on Friday.
The commission assessed the preparation for the upcoming Assembly Elections in all the districts. They also assessed the progress of the ongoing second Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the Voter List in the state. They stressed the need to prepare an error-free electoral list and instructed the concerned officials to adopt a meticulous and serious approach for the revision of the voter list. They also assessed the progress of the printing and distribution of EPIC cards.
The Election Commission of India has directed the officials to strictly monitor and curb activities related to the distribution of liquor, drugs, cash, and freebies in the state to efficiently assess the election expenditure. They directed the officials to take swift action against such activities without waiting for the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.
In a day-long session, the Commission assessed polling station logistics, including EVMs, VVPATs, personnel, vehicles, and grievance redressal. In a comprehensive meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner, the Election Commissioners, and other senior officials of the commission reviewed the need for postal ballots, communication strategy, election staff training, law and order status, and SVEEP efforts for the upcoming Assembly Elections.
