President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday visited the magnificently-built Lord Jagannath Temple in Chhattisgarh capital and offered prayer.
Accompanied by her daughter Itishree Murmu, Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the President reached the temple located at the Gayatri Nagar. Besides the members of the Temple Committee, the bureaucrats affiliated to the state of Odisha received Murmu at the temple premises.
She offered prayers at the temple housing deities of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra Ji, and Subhadra Ji. The President prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the citizens of the country.
Earlier, the President landed at Swami Vivekananda Airport as a part of her two-day visit to Chhattisgarh. Governor of Chhattisgarh Biswabhusan Harichandan, Chief Minister Baghel, Chief Minister Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja were among others to accord a rousing welcome to the President at the airport.
The President is attending different programmes in the state capital on Thursday. She will fly to Bilaspur on Friday to attend the 10th convocation of the Guru Ghasidas Central University.
She is scheduled to meet the groups of tribal communities at the Raj Bhawan before concluding her Chhattisgarh visit.
