Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday visited the Takht Sri Patna Sahib also known as Takht Sri Harimandir Ji located at Patna in Bihar.
Modi prayed at the Sri Patna Sahib Gurudwara, which is one of the five takhts of the Sikhs. Wearing a turban and holding a pot of kheer, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the sewa (service) at the Gurudwara and served langar, a communal meal, to devotees. He also reached the community kitchen of the Gurudwara and helped in preparing meals.
“Sikhism is rooted in the principles of equality, justice and compassion. Central to Sikhism is Seva. This morning in Patna, I also had the honour of taking part in Seva as well. It was a very humbling and special experience,” the Prime Minister took to the social media X.
He added: “Prayed at Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib this morning. Felt truly blessed to experience divinity, serenity and rich history of this sacred place. This Gurudwara has a close link with Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Our Government had the honour of marking his 350th Parkash Utsav in a grand manner. May the teachings of the Sikh Gurus continue to inspire and guide us all.”
The Takhat Sri Patna Sahib Gurdwara holds profound significance as the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. It was constructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the 18th century.
The Prime Minister was on a visit to Patna as part of election campaign. Sunday night, he held a roadshow in Patna. The Prime Minister travelled a distance of approximately one and a half kilometers atop a vehicle adorned with flowers and BJP symbols.
He was accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and State BJP President Ravi Shankar Prasad.
