Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday claimed that the BJP would return to power in the ensuing state polls and form the government in Chhattisgarh on December 3.
“I have come to invite you to the swearing in ceremony of BJP government in Chhattisgarh,” Modi said while addressing a mammoth election meeting in Kanker district on Thursday afternoon. Contesting the claims of Congress government, he said BJP’s resolve had been to bring Chhattisgarh among the top states of the country. “The figure of Congress and Vikas is 36 (a proverb of contradiction),” Modi said, adding that there could be no development where Congress was present.
He said that Chhattisgarh celebrated its foundation day only yesterday. The people of Chhattisgarh and BJP together created Chhattisgarh. As long as the Congress government remained in Delhi, the BJP here continued to show hostility towards the government. Chhattisgarh is about to turn 25 years old. 25 years is very important in the lives of sons and daughters in the family. This election is not just to make MLA, Minister or Chief Minister. It is an election that will decide their future, the future of their children.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress, Prime Minister Modi said that only Congress leaders had developed in 5 years of party rule in Chhattisgarh. “Only the children and relatives of Congress leaders have benefited. What did the poor Dalit backward tribal families of Bastar get? Nothing was found. Congress gave dilapidated roads to the people of Chhattisgarh,” he said.
The Prime Minister took a dig and said instead of banning liquor as promised, the Congress government indulged in multi-crores liquor scam. Modi contested the Congress’ claim of paying higher price of paddy to the farmers in Chhattisgarh and said it was the central government that was funding the scheme. “The BJP government has purchased paddy worth one lakh crore from the farmers of Chhattisgarh. Congress people lie that they have made the purchase. Modi has also made arrangements to ensure that the money of the poor goes into the bank accounts of the farmers,” he said.
“Modi also guarantees the prosperity of the paddy farmers of Chhattisgarh. My farmers should trust my guarantee. The Modi government has also given Rs 2,60,000 crore for Kisan Samman Nidhi. We have done the work of supplying coarse grains to the market. A BJP government will be formed. You are going to get a good price for coarse grains,” the Prime Minister said. Asserting that Tendu leaf collectors have also been looted heavily by the corrupt Congress government, he said as soon as the BJP government is formed, the purchase of tendu leaves will be expanded. Bonuses and better facilities will be provided.
